Company ProfileNorman Sernoff and
Jonathon Goldstein established Independence Fish Company in 1997.
Both of us have extensive experience in the fish business…a
profession and a labor of love passed on by generations before us. We formed the
company for the primary purpose of importing and trading. Our main business is
high-quality frozen fish and seafood.
We deal only with suppliers we have known for years even
generations. We buy only the
brands we know and trust, and we can be counted on for product and brand
consistency – a true test in our business. Our core product line in fish consists of Orange Roughy, GreenShell Mussels, Monkfish and Scampi from New Zealand; Basa/Swai from Vietnam, Dover Soles, Grey Sole, Mackeral, Flounder and Sole (Plaice) from Holland; Whiting, Seatrout, Croakers from Argentina and Uruguay, Octopus from The Philippines and Squid and Scarlet Snapper from Thailand. We also sell shrimp, squid and even some imported meat items to a broad range of customers from the retail, foodservice, wholesale and processor segments. Our primary distribution locations are Philadelphia, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Florida and our customers are located primarily in the Eastern States, but we have clients throughout North America. Our families have been assisting our suppliers and customers alike in the development and cultivation of successful commercial endeavors for over a century.
